Caps for Sale is one of my favorite children’s books. It is one of the first books that I remember my parents reading to me. It was a hardback book that we checked out from the library. I remember that when I opened the book, the pages smelled like the library. I loved the illustrations. They are simple, yet convey so much information about the peddler and the monkeys.
Caps for Sale was also a book that each of my four children enjoyed and I remember reading it to each of them countless times. It is also a great book to use in the classroom. Children love the way the monkeys take the peddlers caps, but are even more excited about the way the peddler tricks the monkeys into giving the caps back and seeing all of the caps floating down from the tree. The repetition allows children to join in the reading of the book. It is also a great book for children to act out.
I have a nephew that is fascinated with monkeys. Thanks for choosing this book, Geralyn. Now, I can make a trip to the local library to check this book out. I know that he'll love it.
